Riffa, May 10, 2023/ Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Vice President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, the Khalid bin Hamad Golden Generation Athletics League for age groups was held at Bahrain National Stadium on Saturday, May 6, 2023, with wide participation.

The competitions were witnessed by Dr. Abdulrahman Sadek Askar, CEO of the General Sports Authority, Mohammed Abdullatif Bin Jalal, President of the Bahrain Athletics Association, and a number of members of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Athletics Association, and were organized by the Faisal Bin Khalid Talents Academy. After the end of the competitions, Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, Mr. Mohammed Abdullatif bin Jalal, board members Ruqaiya Al Ghasra and Engineer Badr Nasser, and Director of National Teams Mohammed Abdulaziz crowned the top three winners.

For his part, Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar stressed that HH Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s directives to include athletics in the Khalid bin Hamad Golden Generation League initiative came out of his belief in the importance of the mother of games and his keenness to continue the brilliance of Bahraini athletics in the coming years, pointing out that Bahrain has many talents in various athletics sports that need such an initiative to discover and refine them in preparation for their arrival to the national teams.

His Excellency the CEO of the General Sports Authority appreciated the efforts exerted by the Bahrain Athletics Association, headed by Mr. Mohammed Abdullatif bin Jalal, to contribute to the success of the “Khalid bin Hamad Gold Generation League” initiative in its first edition, noting that the participation of athletics added a lot to this project, given the prominent position of Bahraini athletics in terms of sports achievements and competition at the highest regional and international levels.

His Excellency Dr. Abdulrahman Sadek Askar praised the outstanding technical performance of the players participating in the Khalid Bin Hamad Golden Generation Athletics League, noting that what was presented by the rising talents confirms that Bahraini athletics is safe and that the future will be brighter for Bahraini sports. For his part, Mr. Mohammed Abdullatif bin Jalal expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to HH Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for launching the Golden Generation Athletics League, which is considered one of the distinguished and pioneering initiatives on the sports level, as it has positive repercussions on the grassroots teams in various sports, including the mother of all games, HH Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

The Khalid bin Hamad Golden Generation Athletics League included several competitions and categories, starting with the U16 100 meters for boys, the U18 long jump for boys, the U16 high jump for boys, the U16 80 meters for girls and boys, the U18 100 meters for girls and boys, the U18 400 meters for girls and boys, the U16 long jump for boys, the triple jump, the U16 800 meters for girls and boys, the U18 800 meters for girls and boys, and the U18 800 meters for boys. boys and girls, U18 400m for girls and boys, U16 long jump for boys, U16 triple jump, U16 800m for girls and boys, U18 800m for boys and girls, U18 800m for boys and girls, U16 4×100 mixed relay for girls and boys, and U18 4×100 mixed relay for girls and boys, and U18 4×100 for girls and boys.
