Riffa, November 04, 2021 / In the presence of HH Sheikh Faisal bin Khalid Al Khalifa and HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa, sons of HH Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Vice Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and President of the General Sports Authority (GSA) and Chairman of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, the Bahrain Athletics Association (BAA) launched the Faisal bin Khalid Academy for Talented Athletes at a ceremony held yesterday evening at the Sofitel Hotel.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, CEO of the General Sports Authority, Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee Mohammed Hassan Al-Nisaf, Bahrain Athletics Federation President Mohammed Abdullatif Bin Jalal, and a number of guests and dignitaries.
On this occasion, His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa expressed his great happiness at the inauguration of the Faisal bin Khalid Talent Academy, which reflects the Athletics Federation’s interest in producing more promising talents of both genders to support the national teams in various competitions, stressing the importance of nurturing and supporting national talents in various sports, including athletics, in a way that reflects the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, King of the country, and the interest of His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa in supporting the sports sector and nurturing youngsters, may God protect him and his family, His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa.
His Highness added: “We highly appreciate the launch of the Faisal Bin Hamad Talent Academy, which is an important incubator to refine and develop distinguished national talents through a series of carefully studied programs, activities and plans, in accordance with the scientific principles of talent care and development, hoping that the academy will contribute to the advancement of the mother of Bahraini games and graduate more new talents.”
The ceremony began with the arrival of HH Sheikh Faisal bin Khalid Al Khalifa and HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa, followed by the screening of a short movie about the history and achievements of the Athletics Federation.
“We extend our thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his approval to name this academy after his son, His Highness Sheikh Faisal bin Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, which is a result of his interest and support for sports talents,” he added.
In conclusion, HH Sheikh Faisal bin Khalid Al Khalifa and HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa received a commemorative gift from the Bahrain Athletics Federation.
